“Do you think Akio or Raphael would mind if I asked you to move in with me for a while?”
Saguru just sort of popped the question out of nowhere. He had found Kaito, settled beside him, looked very enamoured with a book, and waited for his boyfriend to become unassuming
until he said anything at all. Afterwards, the detective continued to turn the page to keep his proposition as casual as possible, and his wording was specific for a reason. Asking him to move in would provide him with a full frontal acceptance or rejection, the latter being something he would rather avoid, whereas this sort of phrasing gave Kaito the opportunity to welcome an excuse either way.
Maybe he was just a little insecure on the matter, even if he was only asking for a temporary change. “I rather like the thought of waking up to you in the morning again.”
It had been a regular flow, with Saguru reading and Kaito doing whatever he did when he wasn’t stealing things (in this case, doodling a miniature of himself, white on black paper), when he had asked.
His hand faltered slightly as he listened on, a slight blush rising at the adorable (yet absolutely unnecessary, seriously, there had to be a restriction on Kaito’s daily heart palpitations) addition at the end. Trying to retain as much casualness as Saguru had offered, he shrugged, scribbling a strip of white on the drawing to hide the only evidence of his surprise recorded on paper. “I don’t see why not,“ he spoke a little louder to hide the embarrassed mumble threatening to poke through. “It’s only a question.”
